I've got a new Fender P-bass fiver coming, love TI flats on my 4-string basses, wondering how TI fiver flats might work. Anyone tried them?

Killer low B. Fat diameter though, not everyone likes such a fat string, and it may not fit through all bridge/body holes on all basses. I have no troubles with it though. Great, great string set. |

Anyone tried them? | Yes, the 5-string set is great -- in fact I'd say the low B is the most impressive string in the set for me. I've got mine on a Mike Lull P-5 with 35" scale. |

I had a real hard time trying to get used to them, so I figured why bother. I guess TI's aren't really for me though, ymmv.

It was the first time I had ever tried them and my opinion is mixed. On one hand I absolutely love the way they sound both fingerstyle and with a pick (I'm not a slapper). However, after owning the bass for a few months they still feel kind of floppy to me.
I have no intention of replacing them just yet, though. I figure at about one year old they're still not quite broken in enough to have reached their optimal tone yet.

I especially hated the .136 B string. I'm much happier with Lakland Joe Osborn flats. Since you already like the TI's you may be like the rest of the posters here and like them. I can just say that they weren't for me.

I'm afraid to put the TIs on my five, though, because I wouldn't want any less tension on the B than it already has. I'd be interested in peoples' impressions of the difference in B string tension between the original Fenders and the TIs. |

I'm hoping stringing them through the body is all it takes.
