TI flats breaking on my string post

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a new Ernie Ball SR5 that I got off a fellow TB'er. When a pack of TI flats came in the mail I tried them on. All strings went on fine except the A. It kept on breaking on the post. The silked end and the wire wrapping would break off leaving the core exposed. I have tried other string types and they have all been fine, both roundwound and flat. This is quite weird. I have filed the edges of the string post and sanded them, too, but it kept on happening. New tuner, maybe?
