TI Flats for a fiver

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a four string set of TI jazz flats, and would like to put them on one of my five string basses. But as far as I know, they do not make a string suitable for the low B (I could be wrong).

If I were to mix in a B string from another brand of flats, are there any that would work well, in your opinion?

TI makes a low B and high C for all of their bass guitar strings. 5 and 6-string bass friendly

+1. TI makes 5 and 6 string sets... The 5er will run you about $70 though. I've never heard a flatwound low B before but I've been tempted to get a set myself.

I ran set of super long scales TI flats thru body on a G&L L-2500. The B string was just fine at 136.

TI Makes a string that matches perfectly with the IT Jazz Flat set. And, you can even buy it as a single string.

Plus, Bass emporium has the best prices I've seen on TI strings. Like 55.00 buckarooskies for the JF345

+1 on the Bass Emporium. I bought my TI flats from them on-line a few months ago and had the opportunity to stop in on them in person for the first time last week when I was in Austin. Great people!

Ya they sound great, for 5-string.
But, the 136-B=string maybe a little thick for some people?

TI Flats Extra Long Scale (JF 365) should fit most any 35" bass, even through the body. I, too, thought the .136 B would be too fat, but the tension on the TIs is low enough that I doubt that most players will find it objectionable. I've had a set on my 55-94 for two years and they sound almost the same as they did when I put them on. They fit perfectly with the exception that the metal part of the G string wraps around the peg a bit, but I have not had a problem. My only regret is that they don't make a six-string flat set or at least a C string single. Bass Emporium does have the best prices on the JF 365 set.
