TI Flats > Hofner CT Club

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi Guys,

I did a search, and alot came up, but nothing this addressing specific.

I have a Hofner CT (Contemporary) Club bass, and want to put some flats on it. My other basses have TI's and Chromes on them, so i want something more or less the same.

Will these strings fit my bass:

Lord of the Strings: Thomastik JF324 Jazz Flat strings

Thanks,

Marco

Yes. Because of that bridge, you need 32" scale strings, also called medium scale.

actually, yes any short scale string will fit a Hofner. There is a TI set that's actually a bit more Hofner friendly...with a .96 E, but that set is a tad more hard to find. I have a set of TI's on my Hof CT right now (I mickey mouse'd a long scale set, with no ill effects)

The short scale TI did not fit my CT bass. The strings are too long, and the steel/nickel part of the string wouldn't fit through the tuner hole. Also the string are too big in diameter to fit in the slots on the retainer(can't think of the name). I had to send mine back, and they called TI, and they said they didn't make a string to fit the CT without modification; which I didn't care to do. It was the TI 324 set. You may have different luck than I did. Hope so.

Maybe 'Hofner' flats. I did not know that there were nut and tuner peg hole differences between a CT and a real 500/1 Hofner bass. North Coast Music may help. Also, try the forums on beatgearcavern.com

I put a set of Rotosound RS77S on my Hofner and they worked great. They're pretty similar to the Chromes I have on my Jazz as far as feel and tension goes.
