TI Flats on a StingRay5?

Sign in to disble this ad
Who's tried this and how does it compare to rounds? I've got Jazz Flats on my old G&L and it's got vintage tone for days, but that's really what the bass is good at. The SR5 is another beast entirely. I've been happy with various DR rounds onthe SR5, but I really dig the TI.

Any specific descriptions would be much appreciated. It's an $80 set of strings so I'm trying get some descriptions first - sound clips wouldbe even better....

Thanks!

This is done on a Stingray 5 HH bridge pickup on TI Flats about 6 months old, picking close to the bridge. It's a little messy, but you get the idea. The preamp is set flat.

Thanks for the clip! This was very helpful. I play almost exclusively fingerstyle, but I can hear the mids and highs doing their SR thing even with broken in strings and a flat EQ. I;m still on the fence, but at least I'm not sutck purely guessing anymore!

OK. The first few times I played this setup it was absolutely and uniquely jawdroppingly beautiful. Then the strings broke in and now it just sounds phenomenal. And I haven't even gone near a tube amp yet...

Sweet Ben.

I love TI flats on my SR5. I just recorded an album and the bass tone is some of the best Ive ever had.

Let me know if I can hear anything from the record yet. I'll be doing a few projects this spring that will involve recording as well as some more "hi-fi" gigs, which played a part in my decision to come back to this bass in the first place.

By any chance do I have your old black pearl SR5 pick gaurd?

Cool. I think I traded you some Elixir strings that I hated... Looks like we both ended up with T-I.
