Ti flats trick

Sign in to disble this ad
If you, like me, have wanted to try a .106 Ti Jazz flat for E instead of the .100 that comes with the 34" set, guess what? The .106 from the 32" set will fit! I bought one for the heck of it and it works fine- you just have to trim back the silk a little. The cover wire makes it through the nut on my bass- a Fender type. I like it better- it's clearer, with more tension, especially nice if you like to drop tune your E occasionally.

Hey, if it works for you then it's cool. A little heavy for myself, but I am glad you were able to find the right combination.

Gee, nothing? I thought it was a neat trick. Maybe I'm a kook.

I find it interesting because I use TI Jazz Flats except on the E where
I find them to be completely dull. I use a Fender 8250
Roundcore/taperwound on the E.

If I ever need to replace the 8250 on the E, maybe I'll try a .106 Jazz Flat.

Good tip. However, you still might be a kook. I don't know.

Sounds like a clever trick. Seems even the best string makers will give you a floppy E.

Floppy E. That's my new rap name.
