Ok-
So I'm a bit of a flatwound convert. Over the past few years I've gone from old rounds to flats on all my instruments-
Squier CV Jazz- TI Flats
Fender MIM Jazz- TI Flats
Lakland 5501- Lakland JO flats light
EBMM Stingray - Lakland JO flats light
KYDD EUB- Chromes-100-45 std
This thread is specifically about the TI's but I thought I'd include the others for reference-
First of all- I love the way the TIs feel- for me the tension is perfect. And, I love how they sound through an amp (GK, AI , Markbass), but recently, I've not been liking what I hear through direct lines- Mixer/headphones for practice, and live at a festival with provided backline. Basically, the mids and trebles sound 'plastic' like, for lack of a better description.
So, I guess I'm looking for suggestions for other options that would provide the same tension but a less plastic sound. The Lakland JO flats seem to have the same sound quality direct through headphones/ mixer, though to a lesser degree.
Has anyone else had similar issues? Suggestions?
Here is a link to some clips from the aforementioned festival performance which highlight the quality I am not entirely fond of with TIs.

(Provided backline was an SVT (3 or 4) into Ampeg 810 fridge, but the house was getting direct line only) Basses used were CV Jazz, and [Kydd EUB on 'One of those Days' and 'Circles']. I realize the performance and mix was not perfect, but I think the tonal characteristic is evident)
Enjoy, and I look forward to any commentary.
