does anyone know if TI Jazz flats would be good sounding on a MIM Fender Jazz bass? I have D'addario roundwounds on it right now, but wondered if I should try those for a change. I play a little slap but mostly finger.

Hehe, why do you think they call them "jazz flats" and show a picture of a jazz bass on the package? Those strings were designed with a jazz bass in mind. Many people really love them on a P-bass, but I find that combination to be a little too mid-heavy, while the relative scoop of a jazz bass profile brings out the best from these strings.

One more thing: Those strings are VERY low tension, especially for flatwounds, and might not be the best choice if you primarily slap.

They'll sound great or horrible, depending on what you like...........
Decide if you want the flatwound sound, then decide if the TI is the type of flatwound sound you want. Then put it on any bass you like.

Two Fenders are needed to cover the basics. A Flat set up for one (I prefer "deep talkin" Flats) on the J-Bass. Then your preference set up on the P-Bass.
I do like the LaBellas on the P-Bass also. Doc

I have a set on my J-fretless. Won't use any other brand on it.
