Question TI Jazz Flats, tension lower than roundwound?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, just wondering w/ all the talk about Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flats being awesome strings but having low tension, i'm wondering how the tension on these strings compares to a set of roundwounds. Would the tension of the TI flats be comperable to say a roundwoud set of .50-.105 or maybe .45-.100? I have a set of Rotosound RS77 flats on my SB-2 currently but the tension is rather high. Are the TI flats just low on the flatwound tension scale or bass strings in general?

No.

To me they seem to between rounds and flats tensionwise. If you are used to traditional flats you will notice the difference but I don't find it to be very dramatic.

I think the biggest difference is their tone and sustain.
