I think their whole shipment of A strings got problem, but I am happy with the flatwound .
Their distribution in Australia is done by BC imports, but I have to buy from their dealer, is too many hands to handle the problem.
I think their distribution system in Asia is bad. I asked Ms Amos of TI Austria, she gave me some few importer in Singapore and other nearby country, but they only sell Violin and other strings.:
I'll email you when I need strings , can I?

There's a '77 model maple and ash P bass on sale locally that is strung with Jazz rounds.

They don't work. There's no punch or oomph to the bass. If I were selling that bass I would restring with flats or D'Addario slows.

I don't think this is any reflection on teh quality of the string, just on the fact that they don't suit the bass.

I think Jazz Flats or Powerbass strings are better suited for P-Basses. The JRs really bring out the inherent growl in single-coil Jazz pickups, imo.

What about for a P-J combination? Which would you go with?

To be honest, these rounds have really transformed the Bass Collection. When I bought it (used), it had (I presume) the original strings. I subsiquently restung it with Rotos Swing Bass 66 (stainless steel). They did not suit it at all and I was so disappointed with the bass all round, that I advertised it for sale. Nobody wanted it so I gambled on a set of TI rounds.

The range of sounds is now astonishing (P+J pups). The bass is now a really good instrument with bags of whatever I seem to want from it. On top of that, the rounds have this fabulous feel that makes it possible to do things I could never have done with the other strings.

I seriously doubt there's ever been a better bass string made. And I honestly can't see me ever changing to a different brand again.

Thanks for the glowing endorsement John, its really great to hear that you're diggin 'em so much!

alembicbassist: If you like flats, I suggest the T-I flatwounds (JF series) but if you play rounds and want high output without brittleness or distortion, I suggest Powerbass (EB series)

j.s.basuki: I wish I had distribution rights outside of the US. As of now, I can't even send catalogs or promotional materials anywhere else but in the USA. I feel that some markets where there's demand say, Australia and Canada (I could go on)
could use my help sometimes. We'll see...

and Andy; I think oddentity nails it regarding that P-bass. Especially those older models really sound super-fine with the JF's.

Thomguy,

You don't have to convert ME to Jazz flats on P basses!

I am messing about with my Yamaha (a fretless BB1200s), getting rid of the Passive Fender style Sadowsky pickups and putting on Bartolinis and also reinstallling the preamp. I have a feeling this will be a bass made for the rounds....

Well, I finally got those TI jazz flats for my four string (P-J pickups). I am truly impressed. All you guys are right. They are fantastic!! I tried the powerbass earlier this year on the 5 string, which I really liked alot but these jazz flats are perfect, (except for turning my fingers black, but whocares when it sounds so good). They make the P pickup come alive and the J pickup still gets that honk (with the tone turned down) that I like.

I found myself just having fun playing up on the neck, melodies, chords etc, which I haven't done for a while.

I still want to try the jazz rounds some day, but if the flats last as long as you all suggest, and if the tone just gets better, it might be a while.
