TI request for anyone near Manhattan

**If this thread is in the wrong place I'd be happy to delete and move it to the right forum. It is concerning strings though.**

Hi TB. Just wondering if anyone in or near Manhattan has a bass set up with TI Jazz Flats and a bass with TI Jazz Rounds. I've read every single TB thread and spoken with a very nice guy (Johnny Alien) who knows all about TI strings, but I haven't had the chance to do the most important thing...play them!!

I've tried Rudy's, what was formerly Manny's, GC x 4 (Queens, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Westchester), Sam Ash x 2 (Queens, Manhattan). Not one of them has a bass with either one of these strings to try out. Even the 2 Pino P basses I saw had their strings changed from the stock TIs.

I know the easiest solution is to buy a set of each and try them, but if I can avoid spending the extra $50 with some research and a little kindness from a fellow TBer, why shouldn't I?

So, after all that, I thank you for reading and am hopeful someone will reach out. I wouldn't bother you for more than 20 minutes and I am very careful with gear. Thanks again TB.

Between the time and effort it'll take to try them, you still won't know because it won't be your bass. Just get a set.

Flats pretty much sound and feel like flats to me.

TI's are NOT like any other flat I have played. When you first put them on they sound horrible but every time you play them they sound a little better. After 2 months of playing them everyday they sound like a woman whispering dirty things in your ear. And they bend easier than anything. These strings are so easy to bend you have to watch bending the G string as you may pull it off the side of the neck.

THIS is why I want to try! I like very low tension strings with very low action...but I can't avoid fret buzz unless I'm consciously playing very lightly. I'm intrigued by the even lower tension of the rounds but want to see how easily they buzz out, and is the higher tension of the flats something I want to deal with.

I love those strings..I really do but my set is hanging on a nail with others in my shop. I cant get over the farting out they do when I'm digging in around the 7th fret area..so I gave up and stick to chromes...for now.

I have TI jazz flats on one bass, and a set of used jazz rounds (missing the G) that could be put on something temporarily...problem is, I'm in Long Island. I'm probably going to be playing with folks in the city over the next several weeks; if something pans out where I'll have some down time, I'll let you know.
