- - Tight strings?
|emf818 ||09-29-2013 06:38 PM |
I've noticed how tight my strings are when i'm in standard and it kinda makes it harder to play. Any way i could maybe get a different gauge to make it less tight or an adjustment of some sort?

The thickness of the gauge could effect this :) Try something smaller.

Going to a lighter gauge will reduce the tension, but you'll sacrifice some fullness in tone. This can be corrected by EQ.
Try a low tension string, like Ernie Ball.

There are several factors which affect tension. String gauge, type of materials used in the manufacturing of the strings, how they are wound, etc. Some manufacturers seem to have more tension than others.

Try stepping down in gauge, or perhaps try a set of round core strings. If you have a favorite brand of string, go lighter. If you don't, try the same gauge in round core, perhaps DR sunbeams or hi beams.
