Tightest possible strings

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm playing my bass, and I decided to tune it up a whole step just to mess around. Now it's C#F#BEAD (6 string.) This sound is AMAZING! It sounds so much more defined, clear, edgy, just EVERYTHING WANT. Now i'm wondering if there's a way I can get some really tight strings so that it sounds this nice. Is this possible? What other possibilities do I have?

EDIT: Maybe I should go Claypool style and use F#BEADG and tune them BEADGC?

I took a peavey cirrus tuned BEADG and tuned it EADGC, it sounded great!

Very articulate and clear, but not as much sustain and wasn't my cup of tea feel wise, it was just to high tension for me I guess.

Alright, i'll check some out. I'm currently just using some generic GHS's.

Which ones? I don't find my XL's to be very high tension at all.

For a roundwound, Rotosound 77 Jazz are pretty high tension.

Lakland SS roundwounds feel very 'tight' to me versus other strings... and they sell for a very nice price.

I had chromes for a while(very tight) and i had a couple friends who used either the pro steels or the XL's in the 45-105 gauge and they were deffinatly tighter then the rotosounds i had.

Then again it could have been scale of the neck.
