Much more than the strings, you'll probably need another couple of SVT's to get close to his tone. Just saying.

He uses Nickel slinkies but there is more to his tone than just them.

Get you some Blue Steels and keep them clean. This won't get you Tim C's tone though. It isn't the strings. Several amps ( I think a tube Marshall for dirt, or possibly a governor pedal) Fender bass. See if you can get Tim to wind you some pick-ups since he winds his own. lol

Tone is in your fingers. The tone of his gear is easy to replicate. I can get it exactly with just my jazz bass, sans amp bddi and a little gain from my SWR. I love Tim C's style as a power rudimentary player but I do not think his tone is spectacular or hard to achieve.

Need more than that to get his tone on say "Know your Enemy". Just sayin'.

I've actually read Tim uses Flatwounds.. hard to imagine though. But maybe that's the only way he can keep the skin on his fingers....maybe urban legend..

I heard that too, but when I say heard I mean someone on here said it, meaning it wasnt true . Type in Tim Comerford strings on Google and there will be some pages about how is endorsed by EB...and uses Nickel rounds.
