Time to choose strings for an alt.country project

Sign in to disble this ad
Alright guys - I've just finished out my rig I think:

I've added a 15 in Eden cab to my Eden 410 and SVT4pro Ampeg head. I'm playing on an American J-bass V with bartolini pickups and LaBelle Jamerson-style flatwound strings.

I've finally broken down and bought a backup bass. My goal was to get a completely different sound than my primary instrument (which sounds sweetly jazzy without giving up much on the bottom). I've bought the P-bass 1951 reissue from Fender.

But as you guys know, what's the fun in sticking with the Guitar Center strings? So if I'm trying to get that hard-charging and punchy country bass feel from old Waylon Jennings records for my new alt-country project, what strings should I buy?

Thanks for your help!
