Time for new strings...which to get?

Alright, it's time for me to get some new strings (I'm still keeping my year-old Hi-Beams though!) and I'm inbetween two choices.

Ritter Swordsteels
Sadowsky Steels

I have the Ritter "Black Knights" strings, which are basically the swordsteels with a black coating. They sound awesome, but I don't like the look of black strings on my bass as much, and they aren't tapered at the bridge, whereas the Swordsteels have both the B and E tapered which interests me.

And the Sadowsky Steels that were on the Lakland DJ-5 I had, had the best B-string tone I've heard. And those blue string wraps are just yummy.

Price aside, what do you think?

1) if you like the Black Knights, try out the Swordsteels
2) what is tapering?

I was just reading your thread earlier today. I may have to pick up a set. Do you know if they are round-core strings? Is the B-string tapered?

I've been really enjoying the tone of the TI Jazz-Flats on my 4-string. Just gets better with age too

Yikes, this thread is well over 2 years old!

I've been using the TI Jazz Rounds exclusively on my Ken Lawrence (and Guild Starfire) ever since I first tried them. Love these strings! The low strings aren't tapered.
