Time to re-string my Jaguar - suggestions please!

Hi all,

I've been very happy with my Jag so far - I've had it about 3 months now, and gigged it once. The neck is a dream, and that's all there is to it

The Active circuit has potential that'll take me many months to figure out, and my main problem so far is getting a more even sound across the strings.

I'm working on the EQ and pickup height, but now that I've hit upon this forum, I realize there's a lot I could probably do just by concentrating for a little while on the strings themselves. These are most likely at least 6 months old and have been handled by who-knows-who before I picked the instrument up.

I confess I'm one of those fellows who'd ideally like all 4 strings to sound like the E, but because about 20% of our setlist requires me to use a pick, flats don't seem to be the way to go.

Any Jag (or even Jazz) owners out there with any suggestions?

Cheers!

My favorite strings on my Marcus Miller Jazz are Rotosound Roundwounds. I haven't gotten my hands on my Jag yet...should in about 2 weeks now...but I imagine as I ordered it because it sounds like the MM Jazz, I will string it with my beloved Rotos.

I am using TI Superalloys right now on my Jag and I like them a lot. Before the TI's I had Fender nickels on it and was pleased with them. The Fenders were mellow, whereas the Superalloys have a bit more growl in them (IMO of course).
