Question tone comparing wrap on tuner post?

Sign in to disble this ad
Has anyone compared tone differences with the only variable being the seating of the string tip on the tuner, ie. end stuck inside the tuner, as apposed to laying it through the groove? I would be anxious to hear the results.

None, absolutely none at all. Except for open strings, what happens at the nut and beyond has no impact on the sound. You need enough wrap to get a good downward angle at the nut (which keeps the string from popping out of the nut, and keeps your open strings sounding full without buzz), but after you fret a note even that has nothing to do with sound.

The KIND of tuning machines will impact sound because the weight of them affects how the neck vibrates. But how you wrap the strings has nothing at all to do with sound.
