Tony Levin strings question

I always thought Tony only used Ernie Ball strings, which in my experience have always been unsilked. However on the fretless Cutlass II he has strings with blue silk. Does anyone know what these might be?

Pretty fuzzy video. Maybe D'addario chromes?

If Tony Levin used any flats, they'd be chromes.

Chromes have blue silk? I don't know of any strings (I'm a Roto guy) with blue silk that dark, just RotoSound nickels that have a baby blue-ish color.

yes, dark blue silk on the chromes.

I think/thought EB flats had gray silks.

Hey mmbongo!

Since you have or have tried both, are there any real differences between the Chromes and the EB's? Any reason to pick one over the other? Thanks!

They seem the same to me, been a while since I used EB's though.

I say go Chromes, because you can build custom sets at www.bassstringsonline.com plus they are a little cheaper.

I thought that while D'Addario makes em there are some slight differences? Hard to tell I guess.
