| | | | Toss Me a Recommendation I played flats on my Precision for a loooong time, but in recent years put some Fender rounds on it that seem to be reaching the end of their shelf life.
I'd like to get some new rounds, something I've never tried before. Any recommendations that you've found to be a good match for your Precision? On my other basses, I've mainly used Rotosounds, some DR Black Beauties, and Dean Markley Blue Steels, all of which I liked, and half-rounds, which I didn't - haven't tried any of those on the P, though.

Check out Bass Strings Online: http://www.bassstringsonline.com/Sunbeams_c_33.html
Best prices, and you can custom build string sets for whatever you want! You can get a normal set, balanced tension, progressive tension, light top/heavy bottom...whatever you want. Killer. |

I prefer a rather punchy sound and in that regard they have served me very well. I have them on three of my five basses…Regular Slinky, Super Slinky and 5-String Slinky.
One nice little feature that you don't hear about much is that they take very little time to break in. I always put the E-string (or the B for my fiver) on first. By the time I'm done stringing up the others, that E-string is almost completely ready to go. In a couple of hours they're cocked, locked and ready to rock.
On a side note, I was almost ready to sell my Squier Standard Jazz bass that wasn't sounding very good to me, despite dropping in a Quarter Pounder pickup. It lacked proper oomph! Before I did something too hasty (after all, I jumped through some serious hoops to get that bass) I decided to swap out the D'addario Light Flats for a set of the Regular Slinkys. Y'know, to give it one last chance. The difference was incredible and I have since backed away from selling her.
