Touching up DR Black Beauties with a permanent marker...yay or nay?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all.

My 2 day old DRs already have signs of colour flaking off the string. Soemone over on another thread said they do this; i was wondering if this was a good idea, and if it would actually work...anyone tried? How does it look/last?

Cheers guys!

Daniel

i have a new pack of DR black beauties that i havent put on yet, but DR added a note in the pack saying that it's normal for the color on the strings to flake off after even couple hours of use, but that it does not have any effect on the performance of the strings themselves. it's purely a cosmetic issue.

It sort of works, but it looks purple and wears off quickly, turning your fingers black. Don't bother.

i don't play with a pick, but the coating began to wear off within a month, mostly where my right hand is, and more noticeably right at each fret.

the permanent marker idea does not sound like a good one. marker usually rubs right off of metal anyway.

marker on nickle or steel isn't going to be permanent. You will only end up witl black finger tips.
