I have an SX Jazz and a Squier VM Jazz with flatwounds on them. I also have an SX Jazz with half rounds on it. All have blocked and bound maple necks...all sound great! And great as played by an accomplished bass player not just by a noob like me.
The flats sound fantastic, but I have the half rounds for a wee bit more zing on that bass.....
Try 'em, you might like 'em....
