Trying to find Replacement Strings

Sign in to disble this ad
My friend sold me an Mexican Active J-Bass a couple years ago and it's time to change the strings. I want to buy the same ones that are on it. I asked him if he ever changed the strings, he said no, however he got it from someone else so who knows. Anyway, they are round wound, with red thread on tuner end and brass balls at the bridge. What I really like about them is their "rubber-bandy" short of action. Even when I just pick the string normally they really vibrate. I've tried both EB Mediums and DR XLs in a medium and they feel too stiff and tight. Should I try a medium-light, and what brand? Any info would be great. Thanks. Dan.
