I'm a bit confused here. I recently put an older pair of roundwounds back on my bass, and.. they actually sound brighter than before. Is this normal? I thought that once strings get worn they become 'dead' sounding, not brighter! It's very very edgy now.

Maybe it's because I haven't heard it in a while? I've been using rotosound trubass 88s for maybe a week and a half and put these back on for the time being (they just weren't loud enough and a bit too 'thumpy', next time im going for TI jazz flats )

Sometimes strings get worn, sometimes string have to break-in. What strings did you have on there? Not that I'm correct, but flatwounds not as bright as halfrounds not as bright as roundwounds. So in theory, worn roundwounds will be brighter than new flatwounds. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

well that's not my issue, my question was why the roundwounds are seemingly brighter than the last time i had them on.
