Is that possible?
I have an upright, and a bass guitar, and I'm extrememely tempted to try out the upright strings on the guitar.
I know they'll be extra long, but is there anything I should worry about if I put those onto my bass guitar?

Also the tail end silks are probably way too long too, and im not sure if its really acceptable or practical to cut the string short so it will fit. Keep in mind upright strings are built different for a different purpose. You'd probably be better off just getting some flats.

I'm might do it just for fun. I'm planning on getting some flat wounds in the future, but I'm just gonna experiment with this, haha

I just strung it up. It sounds very dark, and warm compared to the stock strings of my bass. It's a little more quiet than before, but it sounds better than I thought.

Also, now that your upright is without strings, watch out for the soundpost falling. That's a pain in the butt to put back up. Don't restring it unless the soundpost is still standing!
Should have gotten you this info before you did it though.
A regular set of bass guitar flatwounds will do the same thing just fine.
As far as working with a magnetic pickup, there are lots of upright strings that work for magnetics - I use a magnetic on my upright. |

But I'm getting new strings in a few days for my upright.
They were unraveling at the tuning pegs for some reason
