Using 95% Volume alcohol instead of Denatured alcohol

Is it ok ? or the strings will die after a period?

I would think they are about the same thing- denatured alcohol is just pure ethanol with some sort of crap in them to make them undrinkable.

BTW, where do you get 95% alcohol? Are you a Doctor or something?

no well i was seeking for the denatured thingy and i didin't find in my town so i went to a drugstore and got 95% alchohol :P they sell it for medical purposes it is pretty expensive for the size of the bottle that i got

The $1 bottle of 91% isopropanol from the supermarket will do just as well. The whole idea is to dissolve the mammalian spooge left by our fingers. Acetone and carburetor cleaner do the trick too, just don't get a drop of them on the finish of your bass.

I'm trying to help here, but I'm not feeling the love. 95% ethanol will work just fine. So will 94%, 96%, 102%, whatever you have as long a it evaporates completely.

My original point was that you don't have to get exotic or expensive with your choice of organic solvents.
