I'm using Fast Fret on my strings (DR and Optima Gold) but it's not working like I want... Strings go dead too soon, but I do like the feel. Now I've decided to try Elixers. Would using Fast Fret on the Elixers be usefull for cleaning them or would it damage the Elixer coating? |

It doesn't make you play faster and the natural oils etc from your hands will work fine. If your getting "string scratching" from your hands leaving/sticking to the strings just soak your hands in warm water before playing.
You want to keep your strings clean so they will last but by applying any of these "wonder" products to your strings you are doing the complete opposite right?
Just stop using it and you will find your strings will last much longer. And won't have nearly as much crud on them.
Peace.

They already have a coating to facilitate faster playing. It may degrade the coating defeating it's purpose. when I feel my fingers getting sticky on my strings, I just wipe the sweat off my forehead onto my fingers and I'm good for another set! |

Anything else will kill your strings. That fast fret stuff is evil on string life! Don't put anything on your strings accept clean fingers! |
