Using taperwound bass strings on a normal bridge'd bass?

I own a Marcus Miller, which is obviously not a string-thru bass but I'm assuming these are what they are intended for - anybody tried these? And is the string on this set definitely a 110 (packaging says 105 but website says 110)?

I use a SIT 130TW for my B on a standard top loading bridge. You will need to raise your saddle height if you had standard stings on it to account for the difference in height. I like TW's better than standard for E/B - I think they have just a tad longer sustain.

I would definitely like to experiment with a taperwound low E - what are your experiences with them sound/feel etc. wise? It is also because I would like to experiment with a 110 low E for feel - is the 'taper' at the bottom really long as well, or is it still a pretty good fit?

There is no industry standard for taper length according to SIT or Elixir whom I have contacted. Some TW's have a exposed core that taper abruptly, and others gradually taper through decreasing graduated windings (like the winding end of the string). I can tell you that Elixir TW's are 1 1/2" from the ball to the end of the taper (where it reaches full diameter) through graduating windings - not exposed core, and SIT TW's are the same other than a 2 7/8" distance.

I used a TW for E once, and liked it, but it's cheaper just to buy a standard 4-string set plus a TW B string than singles, and I didn't want a full TW set - just E/B or B only.

Email the string manufacturers you like, and ask about their taper length, and if it's an exposed core or wound. Go from there.
