Very light gauge on short scale?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm not sure what gauge my current 30" scale bass strings are, so that's not a good starting point, BUT

I want to get the lowest tension strings I can, and was about to buy a 30-90 set of Elites when I realised the shorter scale probably slackens the strings somewhat anyway, and they might be unplayably flappy and buzzy.

Has anyone any experience of such?

You will have to buy some fatter strings. I put 45-105 on my 34 scale bass.
You need at least 40-100 set.

I dunno, it's depends on your preference / how you like your strings to feel. I love low-tension myself. I had a set of TI Acousticore (nylon core) strings gauged .065-.035 on my Kinal Kompact 30" Acoustic bass. They're actually ADGC strings that I just tune down to EADG.

But I'm kinda...not normal
