Question View my string related OCD!

Sign in to disble this ad

Most of the time I will clip off the ball ends of the old strings after I put on a new set on save them.

I started doing this probably a year after I started playing, so this is about 11 years worth. Total is 44 sets.

Considering I've only had 1 5 string (I had an 8 string but never changed strings on it) and that I've mostly only owned one bass at a time you get roughly 4 sets a year.

Why did I feel the need to take my collection out of the Altoids tin it lives in, arrange it in rows, photograph it, upload it to a photohosting site, and share it with the talkbass community?

Because I'm waiting for a UPS truck...

Take your E or A string next time and thread it through all of those and make a necklace or bracelet of some sort, and then keep adding to it. 11 years is a long time to spend making a necklace!

Ive done the same thing. when I got my first bass about 4 years ago, and I played the strings to death. The strings that I got were the jerry only sigs. And for some reason i saved them, made them into bracelets and were them all the time. I have about 10 d-strings on right now. all about the mojo.

So, what were you waiting for? And did it get the standard UPS treatment of a forklift hole in the side?

Bought a cool Peavey millenium+ 5-string From another TBer, I actually wasn't expecting a truck at that minute(more like 5 days later), but you know, I sort of wanted it to arrive at that moment.

No Forklift Holes but the guy was holding it upside down, he clearly neglected the, "This side up" sign.

Whenever I have had more than one bass, I would have a primary one and all the others would get hand me downs.
