I have a Squire PBass that I am basically calling my bass project...I want to rebuild it and make it a custom piece...first thing I want to do is find a nice vintage jBass or Pbass headstock for it!preferably 72' JBass

You're better off experimenting with the Squier P-bass to get just the right profile to the neck you want, the right pickup(s), string geometry, etc., then purchasing or have custom made a new bass to your specs. Anything more than changing out the stock pickup for a decent moderately priced pickup and giving it a good setup is diminishing returns.

In 1993 I purchased a Squier II Strat for the sole purpose of carving on it until I got something I liked, then having my own custom fanned fret guitar made accordingly.

You might have more luck in the Luthiers forum, this one's for strings.

I'm confused, though, are you planning on transplanting a headstock only? Sounds bizarre to me
