Hello.

I recently got a new bass (MIM Fender P bass with a male fingerboard and SD vintage p/u) and i want to get that vintage tone, so i heard that flatwound strings would help, is that true?

If so, what er the best flatwounds on the market today?

TI Flats are great, but I wouldn't suggest them for vintage P Bass use.

I would use LaBella Deep Talkin Flats. The medium light set will get you there. You won't ever have to change them either.

I'm a fan of D'Addario Chromes. Have the light set on my P.

I personally use Rotosound Jazz Bass 77s. They are lush, and have a really 'Old School' tone...

The TIs are nice but not necessary for vintage tone. I get gobs of vintage tone with or without them. Usually I use Fender rounds.

Want to try Rotos soon. Never have.
