Vista musicmaster Strings

I've read all the posts on here and am still a little unclear about the string length. Since the Vista Squiers are through body stringing I suspect that I will need to use Medium scale and not short scale strings. Can anyone verify they will work before I buy the wrong ones?

Assuming your bass has the same dimensions as a Mustang, you can use Fender short scale (they only make one set,) DR short scale, or D'addario medium scale. Not sure about others.

It's my understanding that the reissue Mustangs will not work with short scale strings due to the "through body" bridge setup. That is what prompted my question. Are they referring to brands other than Fender when mentioning this in other posts? Fender says their short scale strings come on them in the spec sheet, so that makes sense.

I think the medium D'addario Chromes are a safe bet. I believe I will try those.

The problem is that different string manufacturers have different definitions of "short."

The reissue MIJ Mustangs do indeed come with Fender short-scale strings, and I know that the DR short-scale sets (Sunbeam and Hi-Beam) will fit properly. For D'addarios, however, you do need medium scales strings, as their short-sets seem designed for top-loading bridges. The mediums fit perfectly.

Medium-scale Chromes should fit your bass just fine.
