Wait till your supply is gone before you change gauges

Been using .045-100 D'addarios for 10 years. Before that I used .040-.095, but I felt I should man up for a while because my chops got mushy. I got a 79 Precision recently, and it came with GHS Boomers .040-.095. I instantly changed them once I got it home and put the heavier strings on. Then I thought maybe I should give the light gauge strings a try again. Now I like them again, and I'm going to put them on all my basses.

Unfortunately, I've got 6 sets of the heavier strings left, so now I have to use them up before I can buy new ones. It's not a question of money. It's a question of psychosis. For the first 12 years of my adult life, I was dirt poor and owned only one good bass all those years, and once I discovered that I was poor by choice, I made some changes in my life and now I'm still not rich but I'm on my way to having a comfortable retirement. But I'm still cheap when it comes to equipment (9 basses, all but two cost less than $1000, most cost $300 or less, and a $1500 upright). The idea of throwing out 6 sets of strings kills me, and the only thing that kills me more is selling strings I just bought for half price. So I guess I'll just use them up, although instead of using a set for 6 months, I'll just use them for 5 months.

Moral of the story: When you're bedridden with the flu, stay away from the laptop before you inflict your boring pointless stories on everyone.

I liked it.
I live in Florida.
I'll pay shipping and will use them properly (6 months).

Don't feel bad. I have about 8 basses, and I didn't pay over $250 for any of them. (Of course, the '63 P was bought in 1967, so the bucks worked out differently.)

If you don't want to use the strings, sell them on Ebay.

Keep them for when you decide you want heavier strings. After all, different basses often need different strings. My tastes change, my bass stable changes, and my musical needs change. I'll bet the same is true for you. Just store 'em in a dry place--they keep for years...maybe even become vintage...
