I don't use em in mine, but I do have to flatten the ends with a hammer.

...or a gentle squeeze with a lineman's pliers on the windings near the ball end.

I use pliers as well. But I have to squeeze harder than "gentle". Why can't Warwick open that passage up a bit??

It's not just them. Occasionally, this minor tweak is required to fit strings onto my Tobias.

It may be frustrating for some to have to actually perform this 3 second procedure, but I find it has relatively little impact on my life at large.

I'm glad it's only three seconds for you. Of course it doesn't impact my life, but it becomes a pain when I change strings. So I wonder, why doesn't Warwick open that clearance up that small amount.

The adjustment amount depends on string gauge + type. For me, it takes several tries to get my DR lowbeam 0.130's into that slot. The string rarely fits well, even after flattening. I hope I am misreading your post, but there's no need to belittle my post/experiences. Maybe I should have only used one question mark in my original post . . . it doesn't really bother me.
