Warwick players & Low Action players, let's talk...

So I'm looking for a set of strings to replace my dead factory 'Wick strings with, and I'm unsure where to go.

I used to have a set of Slinkys on my old slap bass, loved the tone for slapping and picking, but not so much on finger playing.

I also had a set of Black Beauties on my old Peavey equipped with dual EMG DC's and 18v pre, loved my pick tone, hated my finger and slap tone.

So, I've heard a lot of 'Wick players sticking with the EMP's (According their forum) however I've heard great things about DR Sunbeams and Marcus Miller siggys as well, but should I trust DR with their history of QC? Not to mention, I no longer play pick, so I'm not leaning this way what-so-ever.

I love fast finger style and have my bass set up on ultra-low action.

What do you guys/gals recommend???

Thanks,
-Tyler.

I´ve liked DR low riders for low action axes.

DR low riders have been my string for many years.. never failed. I recently tried the marcus miller luv them to but something about the hexcore on the low riders, it just has that sound and feel on my thumb 5 that I can't live without. -jeffg

I'm a SunBeam, Hi-Beam guy.

The Lo-Riders just took something out of the Thumb tone for me, plus they felt very slow compared to the Sun/HI-Beams.

Here are three great low-action strings. Their stiffness really lend themselves to not buzzing. I love Hi Beams and Sunbeams more than any other string, but they do buzz at super low action. These less so:

DR Lo-Rider

Sadowsky Black or Blue Labels

Dean Markley Blue Steels

I've been very happy with DR High Beams. Great tone, but also great feel and low(er) tension. Blue Steels were also good, sounded as good as the DRs, but had a rougher feel IMO.

I use DR Marcus Miller Fatbeam on my Warwick Corvette.

Great tone and feel good on my finger compare to the sandpaper warwick string (warwick string is good tone but feel terrible).

I like the mids i get from the fatbeam, really give me that growl i looking for.

Any DR string will be good on the warwick, no matter is fatbeam, highbeam or lo-rider

Well, I have a bit of money to play with, and I feel like I oughtta play around with different manufacturer's for a change. Been playing for 5 years now, and I've always stuck with what I have been using. (Ernie//DR)

So I pulled the trigger on some Elixir mediums from MF yesterday.

I figure I really dug how they felt on the Ibby 505 when I tooled around on one
for awhile. (Was looking for that Warwick tone with the Warwick bass 2 years ago.)

Really smooth//slick which is something I really like. (Warwick strings ARE rough imo.)

Heard these things last for quite some time, and as long as you're not a pick player, the coating should be good.

I figure for almost doubling what most others are pricing a set of four strings at, they had better be!

But any way, I should get them by next week, so hopefully I'll be able to post some feed back on those, as I haven't really seen anywhere near a handful of guys ever really suggesting them.

I've tried & liked DRs(non-tapered SS- not sure which ones), very much dislike Elixirs' tone & used to swear by Ken Smith SS(Rock Masters?).

What is this? Some kind of DR love-fest?

I like Nickel Lo-Riders for my 4 string, I like the extra tension. Sunbeams on every thing else though. If you like steel- Lo-Riders and Hi-Beams.
