Washburn RB2000-strings help!

Hi!
Am buying myself a 10-year old Washburn RB2000 for playing in rock/blues/punk bands, I read a lot of reviews of it and it seems to be very dark and thumpy
However, it seems the biggest problem to it is a lack of articulation, it doesn't cut through very well, I do not yet know if this is the case or not, we'll see.
My question is this: I want an as deep, dark and thumpy sound as possible, but of course I want the tones to be heard, any suggestion on strings?
I'd rather have as dark as possible than articulated, clear, but if there is a string that does both, yeah, it would be great! Am emphasasing on bass and lows, the highs are important but not a priority
