Weird String Problem

Sign in to disble this ad
This is pretty odd, and I was wondering if anyone else had this problem. I had my Wick strung with D'Addario Super steels for a while and I whilst I like the sounds, any time I tried finger tapping the strings would buzz like crazy. I figured I would give it some time and break the strings in and maybe the problem would go away. Well, it didn't so I swapped them out for some Ernie Ball Super Slinky's and the problem went away! Has anyone had or seen this problem before, was it me or was it the strings?

It was your bass. It needed a set up to accomadate the different tension, but swapping strings is just as good.

You either needed to tweak the truss, adjust the saddles, or both. I've had it happen before with Roto 66's, D'Addario, and Slinkies.

the truss was good, I adjusted the saddles a little, moved them foward some thinking that would help, but I just gave up changed the strings. I've been playing slinkies for what seems like forever, so I thought I would try some new ones. Oh well I got that good old slinky sound anywho.
