So earlier today I'm restringing and setting up the action and intonation on a friend's bass at school. I got done cleaning off the fretboard and I went for the flat wound strings. Opened the E, clipped it, tightened, tuned it. As for the A. Did the same thing.
...
Then I get to D. Take it out. Double take. Then triple take and feel the string and examine it more closely. IT WAS A ROUND WOUND! In a bag of medium gauge D'Addario ECB82 Chromes. Pretty standard flat wound string. I've never had or heard of anything like that! How do you even mix them up like that???

So I took them back to the Guitar Center I bought them at and he thought I was bull****ing him. Accused me of keeping the flat wound D at home and bringing a dingy round wound D with me to rip them off with. Long story short, I manged to get him to give me the proper flat wound D out of another set. After I got done with his bass I emailed D'Addario about it. I can't wait to see what they say.

Wow that's pretty crazy. Never had a problem and I've gone through a ton of D'addarios.
