TI nickel flats I got only last week are red
can't vouch for the whole brand though

the d'addario bronze phosphor acoustics I replaced with the TIs were bare

My D'Addarios don't have colored ribbon at the end, they're bare. It's one of the reasons I use them.

some of them has, some doesn't. ie: my d'addario chromes have blue ribbons

That's true, I'd forgotten about them. What is the purpose of the ribbons anyway?

I've heard it's because when you cut the end of the string the winding may start to unravel from the core. The fabric at the end is supposed to prevent that from happening.

I have no idea if it makes any difference...

Doesn't seem to. I use only ribbonless strings. Never had any problems.
