I would get a set of SM77 roto flats for the Geddy. Great tone nice top end, solid lows.

My Geddy has worn several different sets of strings. Smith Slapmasters , Roto RS66, Chromes, Labella DTF, Fender 9050ML. Right now it is wearing the Fender flats, and I really like the tone from this bass with these big ole flats on it.
I really liked the Chromes on this bass as well. Great string that suited this particular bass very well. Plenty of top end but the bottom was still there. These are a very bright string right out of the package. Very much like a set of rounds. They do settle down and warm up after a few months of letting them play in. They will last for a long time, so you won't break the bank. |

Four of them Seriously,You should try various ones and find out what is "best for you", there are still some things you just can't "answer shop", theres always a degree of R&D that comes with playing, however, "suggestions" should always be welcomed. |

I have gone to the chromes and really love them. Pretty bright for flats but have that nice warmth I've been looking for. My band noticed a difference right away without me telling them I switched out strings! |

But each of these classes sound different. And within each class there are variations. And then you have the what string gauge feels the best to me and sets up well on my particular bass question?
But if I were shooting for the middle of the road, I would look for a set of nickel rounds. I like Fender 7250s. I agree with whoever said they sound good on Fender basses. You can go 45-105 or 45-100. Sunbeams, D'addario XLs, GHS Boomers, Sadowsky Nickels, Ken Smith Nickels, La Bella Slappers, Nickel Lo Riders are just a few of the possible nickel rounds out there. And at the end of the day, you may prefer steel round wound tone of Rotosound Swing Bass (think Geddy Lee, Chris Squire) or you may prefer the warm vintage sound of TI Flats or D'addario Chromes.
And we have not even talked about ground wounds, compression rounds, nylon tape, or coated strings. But I would ignore these for the time being.
