Tone is a nightmare for me when slapping. A new amp would help but tone starts at the strings. What does everyone recomend?

Ernie ball slinky, but I'm sure that what bass you're using is a little important too

For the sound I like, light tension/light gauge strings do the trick. Elites stainless steels are great, I use the 035-095 set.

I like Sadowsky Blue Label SS strings. It's got plenty of brightness and tension but still has plenty of flexibility to get under there and pop it. I love the tone I get from mine.

I just put on a set of DR Fatbeams Light last week and so far they are my favorite for slapping. Lots of posts on these strings.

I kinda think action / EQ is more important,....

I have elixir strings as standard on my K5, action is already set up for awesome easy slapping and with the right EQ gets a nice tone...

only thing I dont like about elixirs is that they sound overly bright with a pick,... awesome slap and finger tone tho

I'm really happy with the slap sound i get with my Rotosound Steve Harris signature flats. They're high tension strings and actually quite bright for being flatwounds. They provide a nice lo-fi slap sound I really like.

I don't slap very much though.
