What brand of colored strings is better?

Sign in to disble this ad
So I just ordered a new bass and its in pewter {silver} and I'm thinking to myself that some blue strings would make it look amazing. Can someone tell me what brand is better in terms of the color lasting longer, the strings them selves last longer, and the best tone. Would you recomend Aurora or DR strings?

I use DR Black Beauties on 3 of my 5 basses I regularly play (2 6ers, and a 5 string). No complaints from me with them. I love the tone, though the Black will fade off after a lot of use. That's never been a concern of mine, but just figured I'd let you know.

I've never tried the Auruora's, so I can't comment on them.

Good luck, and Have Fun!

If you want a tone similar to flats, you should consider tapewounds strings !

Ditto on Tapes for just a color.

I have some coated strings.. they look ghetto after a bit.

Plus your paying audience can't care (this from a guy stealthing a bass nobody cares about)

He didn't say what tone he wanted, so tapes may not be the way to go. Do people really try to get that flatwound sound on purpose??

But DR actually buys their colored/coated wrap wire from Aurora so the colors and coating will be the same. Of course there is a difference in the construction since the outer wrap wire is just one piece of the equation. I can verify that DR ExtraLifes do sound phenomenal. Fat, punchy, and smooth all at the same time.
