Lightbulb What are the DARKESt strings for my Cruisebass? no tinky...

Sign in to disble this ad
I love my cruisebass but with my lousy technique, using Hi-Beams I get way too much string noise no matter what I do or where I play, so begs the question: what's the darkest, warmest, earthiest, non-shrieky strings I can put on this mutha of a bass?

mine has active EMG's with the EMG pre-amp if that helps. Big bottom capability, but pretty bright on the highs. with the High Beams, I have to pretty much play the neck pickup, and I've got it set down in the body ... thinking about going to p/u covers.

help me guys

oh, I tune down one hole step also, so the strings are a tad flabby... I could do a nut and go up to 115... i'm thinking of that

LaBella Deep Talkin Bass Model L-0760M (Jamerson) are pretty dark. I think they might be .052 - .110.

yep I'm thinking flatwounds, but I think I'll go heavier than 110 this time. this bass plays pretty loose with that low tuning and I've adjusted the action 'til its getting tough to play up in the highside
