what do i buy?

my roommate knocked over my bass or something, long story short, i need new strings.
ive never bought strings before so please tell me what to do

i own a 5 string Samick with a 26 inch(ish) neck, (i dont know if that matters.
im planning on tunning it to C so its like

C
F
C
if anyone can help id greatly appriciate it

Go to any music store and buy a cheap 5-pack of bass strings. If you don't have a store nearby, www.juststrings.com

Since you're going to be tuning up, snag a set of light strings:

If you like the feel of downtuned strings but still want to tune up, get some super lights instead:

Don't necessarily need to get the XL's, but they're very nice strings and I like em a lot (fairly cheap, too). Whatever you buy, get light or extra light or you're going to be putting a lot of strain on your strings and neck from the extra tension.

Don't worry about the fact that they're extra-long... you can cut off the extra (any string that's more than 3" or so past the tuning peg on the headstock).
