What are people's recommendation for a quality string for an Ibanez SR506?
I tried LaBella Tapewounds "Deep Talking" on my 5 string but was disappointed by the low B string (too muddy). I'm returning to roundwound strings, but wanted to get one that would be versatile enough to go from funky metallic to baby-bass soft/warm (for latin applications).
The sound I most consistently want to get is either an Oscar Stagnaro warm, but with bite, or the sound commonly associated with more modern salsa albums (like Marc Anthony, Victor Manuelle, or modern merengue bands). I want some growl/rough bite, but also not so metallic that it sounds like a rock band.
The SR506 tends to have a natural tendency toward the high end, so please keep that in mind with recommendations.
In particular, I'm looking for long lasting life (the LaBella Tapewounds are supposed to be VERY long lasting). |
