They smell like they were soaked in Armor-All or something. I'm leaving the top open, and when they dry out, I'm going to pour some denatured alcohol on the wipes. THAT will get the crud off your strings.
As for Dunlop's ingredients, I'm guessing its some petroleum based solvent, possibly mineral oil, and a little fragrance. The only true way to get all that crap off the strings IMO is to soak them in denatured alcohol and give them a good scrubbing after.
Sorry about the rant and the derail lol. |

While I've never soaked my strings.... yet, I usually wipe them down after playing, with a cotton cloth moistened with denatured alcohol. This works for me, so I've no need to use anything else. It's also cheaper.

I agree about the EB stuff, it actually killed my strings.

I go to a drug store and buy a box of alcohol wipes. They come in a box of 100 or so. Look like the wipes they give you if you were to eat at a BBQ place. Individually wrapped, one at a time. I put a bunch in my gig bag. Crack one open, wipe 'em down between sets. If you let it lie out, it will dry up very fast. All you have to do is put it back in the package it came it and sorta fold it over. Last a while. They work very good. Try some
