probly lighter gauge.

thats what i was thinking but could he be using mediums-heavies for the B and E and maybe A?

Why don't you send him a message and ask?

I have a feeling that most of that tone is coming from his technique, the type of bass he's using, pickups, EQ settings, amp/cab... the string gauge is important, don't get me wrong, but I'd put it around 10th or 12th on the list of things to consider if you're going after a specific tone.

o no im just studying string gauge now, i know it would be the last thing to consider for tone lol. i did send him a mesage but he hasnt responded yet.
