What the heck, DR?

Okay so I come home from a long day (school and work for seven hours). I bought some DR Loriders last night so I decided to throw them on my bass today. I'm pretty excited, got my father helping me put them on. I get to the A string when what do I discover, they gave me two of them! And no E string!

So basically, I got a pack of .45, .65, .85, .85, and .130. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm not gonna rag on DRs because I'm sure it was just a little slip up. Lucky me, Guitar Center will take them back even though I already cut two of them. Which is also convenient because I also need to pick up something else and get my friend a refund on a coupon we couldn't use yesterday because the power went out (that's a different story, though).

DR has awesome customer service. I had a brand new string break as I was installing it, fired off an email and a few days I had another one on my doorstep.

Kudos to DR Staff

Wish I'd known that, I broke a B on a set of High Beams as I was installing them.... Didn't think of contacting Customer Service.

Well Guitar Center said they'll take them back, so I should be good. If decide they don't want to then I have faith that DR will take care of me.

It sucks though because I've tried playing with the G and D strings and I think they sound great! I just want my other three strings!

Okay so update on the story:

This morning I stopped by Guitar Center before I went to work. They had like three other people trying to make a return with only one manager working. I was able to get a new pack only to discover that it ALSO had two A strings!

I think its kinda weird. Maybe the whole batch is messed up, I dunno. I just really want some strings. That and with gas nearly $4/gallon, I can't really keep making trips like this.

Edit: Okay, I just called up Guitar Center. It seems like the whole lot is messed up.

I am sure it was am honest mistake, I say if that is the first time DR ever did that they are pretty close to being spot on.

If you would have contacted DR to start with, you probably could have saved the gas and headaches dealing with GC!

I needed to go to Guitar Center anyway for other reasons. And I'm not trying to put a black mark on DR's name. They're a great company from what I gather, its probably just a mistake on an assembly, although I think its weird that it would impact three sets in the same place.

I'm just a little stressed out about not having strings on my bass and not being able to play anything. I don't wanna sound like a lame/angry teenager who uses music as a way of expressing myself, but it is my outlet from any kind of stress I get throughout the day.

Also, I think DR is closed on Sundays. I'll call them tomorrow. I'm also gonna return my strings to Guitar Center and use the credit to get a One-Spot.

Why didn't you open the second pack in the store to make sure they didn't mix up that one as well?

I did open up the new pack in the store. And I told the guy in accessories that I had two A strings again. I was waiting for ten minutes to see if I could return them (someone else was already ahead of me). But by then I had to leave so I wouldn't be late for work.

I had a similar experience with D'addario flats. I got an extra D string. Lost it when I moved though.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I bought a pack of Ernie Ball guitar strings a few weeks ago only to discover that they had forgot to include a high E. Never happened with bass strings though, and I've used DR strings for years.

Okay, happy ending:

I called up DR and they're sending me a free string. They're also gonna get a hold of my Guitar Center and replace those strings. So everything worked out, and hopefully I'll be able to buy these things locally without having to worry about getting two A strings.

And it probably would have been easier to contact them in the first place, but keep in mind, I had to go back to Guitar Center anyway to get some money back from a coupon. And I still need to do that (AGH), but I'll be sure to waste as much time playing on any much gear as I can get my hands on (and I'm thinking about getting something to record with on my computer).
