What are the highest tension strings you have used?(For the downtuners)

I know that there must be a billion "I downtune to _ recommend me some strings" threads. But it seems that no one ever recommends specific strings. I've heard "Larger gauge=more tension" enough times to make my head explode. I want to know from the downtuning crowd what strings they use. I've been using flatwounds for the past year but they either sound too dead (fender brand flats) or can't take downtuning to C sharp (Rotosound steve harris sigs). So what are the brightest sounding strings you have used that can still maintain high tension when a bass is tuned to c standard, d standard, etc.

I play a 2008 fender p bass (4 string) with quarter pounders and would like to get some tones like the following...
Some reference tones:
Geezer Butler: Heaven and Hell, Live from Radio City Music Hall album (his newer bass tone, I'm a fan of all of his old stuff but I like this tone alot more)
Markus Grosskopf: Helloween, Time of the Oath album

at C standard you might almost drop it another half step and get a 5 string set throw away the top G string and tune it BEAD.

I have been doin some researh and talkin to some ppl about this same situation. GHS makes super heavy bass strings i think the E sting is 115. i am told it works well with c even b tuning so hopefully this will be my solution to the problem. more than likely it will require some nut work and adjustments but keep your fingers crossed. Good luck

ghs also makes a 5 string set that the following guages .040, .055, .075,.095,.120.... throw away the .40 g string the .120 would make a good low tuning E.

Any set will do - depending on your taste - as long as it is a .120 or .125.

No string IMO that is meant for E will sound good tuned to C.

Flats will never sound as bright as any sort of wound.

Take a look at Roto first as you seem to have at least tried them before.

I use GHS Bass Boomers heavy gauge. They hold tension just fine.

Don't forget that the core wire can make a huge diferance. Just compair some dr low riders to some dr hi beams and you'll notice what I'm talking about. The low riders have a hex core that feels a lot stiffer then the round core of the hi beams.
